The objective of this program is to prepare Computer Technicians to pass the CompTIA A+ Technical Certification Exam both in the Core and Elective Areas by reviewing the material, which is being tested on the exam.  The exam is a highly recognized certification for technicians.

NES100 Introduction to Computers for Beginners

(12 Instruction Hours)

This course is designed for those students who do not have an understanding of computer basics. Students will learn the basic components and operation of the computer, i.e., how to use the keyboard, mouse, floppy disk, etc. Students will also learn fundamental computer terminology and concepts of file management.

 

NES110 Computer Hardware Installation & Troubleshooting  

Exam Preparation:CompTIA A+ Technical Certificate (Core Section)

This course is designed to provide hands-on training in building, upgrading and troubleshooting a personal computer.

This course covers: Voltage, current, and resistance; Basic electronic components and their functions; The binary and hexadecimal number systems; Microprocessors, memory, BIOS, ISA, EISA and PCI data buses, IRQs, RAM, ROM, IDE, EIDE, SCSI, CD-ROM and DVD ROM drives; Video adapters, printers, serial and parallel ports, connectors and cables, assembling and upgrading a PC; Installing floppy drives, hard drives, monitors, modems, controller cards, and power supplies, upgrade, diagnostic, troubleshooting, and safety procedures; Installing and configuring Network Interface Card.
