Introduction to Computers

This course is designed to introduce the student to the use of IBM PC’s and “compatibles”.  It will give the student a basic understanding of computer functions and tasks within the windows environment. Topics include: Windows98 operating system; components of the workstation; identifying parts of a window and dialog box; managing files; customizingwindows; maintaining

your computer; and working with windows programs.

 

Microsoft Word 2010

(36 Instruction Hours)

This is a comprehensive course in the use of one of the premier word processing applications used in business today.  Microsoft Word allows you to create professional looking documents; letters, resumes reports, brochures, and advertisements.  Students will be instructed in creating, editing, saving and printing documents; character and paragraph formatting; enhancing text; and spell check.  Topics include: headers and footers; importing graphics; merging documents; creating toolbars; working with clip-art; and creating tables.

 

Microsoft Excel 2010

(36 Instruction Hours)

This course explores the use of the electronic spreadsheet application most widely used throughout the business world today.  The popular Microsoft Excel course is taught using a windows environment.  Students will learn how to create spreadsheets that provide tremendous flexibility and power for storing, managing, analyzing and manipulating databases of numerical information. Topics include: designing, editing, formatting, saving, and printing worksheets; entering values and formulas to perform mathematical calculations and projections; enhancing worksheet; working with ranges; creating and printing reports; linking spreadsheets; and creating charts.

 

Microsoft Access 2010

(24 Instruction Hours)

Access is part of the Microsoft Office suite.  This course teaches students to design and format database tables, forms and reports; manipulate and query databases; and use calculated fields.  Topics include: working with, designing, and creating Access databases, tables, forms, reports and queries; as well as, finding and sorting records.
